Speakers Co-HeadJulio Herrera was born in Mexico City, Mexico, where he lived prior to coming to Columbia. He is currently a senior at Columbia, majoring in Applied Mathematics. His interests are wide, so he likes to get involved in interdisciplinary work. Julio joined Columbia's EWB chapter (Uganda Program) during the Fall of 2010 where he has met an amazing group of friends and has had the opportunity to work on great and interesting projects. He hopes that you find the workshop interesting and that you enjoy your stay in New York City.
Speakers Co-HeadHillary Cheng hails from Vancouver, Canada and is currently a senior studying Civil Engineering. She joined EWB-USA CU Uganda in her freshman year and has served as Water Projects Co-Lead this past year. She has enjoyed learning from the challenges and hands-on experiences involved in the design of a rainwater harvesting system and is proud of her team for implementing the system in Uganda this past summer. She hopes that you will find the workshop enjoyable and enriching for your projects as well.
Sponsorship HeadKristina Lee is a junior in Columbia College studying Economics. She first joined Engineers without Borders her freshman year while she was still an Industrial Engineering Major. Although she is no longer studying engineering, the amazing people she has met and the work accomplished by the Columbia chapter inspired her to stay on and continue working with EWB. She is very excited to be on the planning committee for the Northeast Regional Workshop and hopes that it will help chapters work on their projects in a more knowledgeable and sustainable way.
Social HeadCaroline Shang is an attractive junior biomedical engineer who loves to travel and watch "How I Met Your Mother". When residing in her humble abode in Basking Ridge, NJ, you will find her guessing which is the next chef to be chopped and solving a super easy sudoku puzzle. She joined EWB as a sophomore in hopes to improve the lives of others around the world. As your social chair, she hopes the recommended restaurants and citywide tours will knock your socks off!
Professional Exhibition HeadAngel Wong is a junior majoring in Operations Research and Computer Science in SEAS. She will be serving as your Treasurer and Professional Exhibition head for the Northeast Regional Workshop. Please enjoy your stay at Columbia and New York City! She hopes you will leave the workshop feeling more informed and empowered about how you can leave a positive mark in emerging communities.
Logistics HeadMin Ye Shen is a senior majoring in Biomedical engineering at Columbia University. She was born in China, but now lives in Flushing, NY. Min Ye joined EWB-USA CU in Fall 2009 with the intention of learning more about the practical aspects of engineering. She is currently the E-Board and Uganda program secretary, whose mission is to fill both people's mailboxes and thoughts with EWB. She hopes that her logistical skills will help her as the Logistics Co-Head and make the workshop awesome.
Volunteer Management HeadSara Chuang is a nerdy junior in the Chemical Engineering department. She just joined EWB-USA CU spring 2011, but it was the best decision of her mortal life. She hopes everyone enjoys the workshop :D
